Suki, a Tiny 2 kg Pomeranian, Breaks Her Front Leg

October 24, 2026

Suki the Pomeranian after front leg surgery at Better Pets Pattaya

Suki is a tiny Pomeranian who weighs only 2 kg. A falling tile landed on her left front leg, leaving her in pain and unable to put weight on it. Our vet repaired the bone with a plate and screws, and today she is fully healed and running normally again.

X-rays showed a broken front leg

The X-rays showed that both bones of the front leg (the radius and ulna) were broken just above the wrist. These two bones form the lower front leg, and they break quite often in small-breed dogs.

Surgery with a plate and screws

Our vet set the bones back in place and fixed them with a plate and screws so they could heal in the correct alignment. Because Suki is so small, her bones are very small too, so the surgery had to be done with great precision and care.

After surgery and recovery

Suki wore a soft splint to support her leg while she recovered under the care of our vets and nurses. After her stitches were removed and follow-up checks with the vet, she healed well and now runs and bears weight on the leg normally.

Small dogs break bones more easily than you think

  • Watch out for heavy objects falling on them, such as tiles or things on shelves
  • Be careful with jumps from high places, such as sofas or beds, or slipping out of your arms
  • If your dog has a sore leg, holds it up, won't put weight on it, or the leg is swollen, see a vet as soon as possible
